Meet our specially trained volunteer dogs. As you can see we accept and train various breeds of dogs. One size does not fit all! These dog go through a vigorous and extensive training program.
Therapy Dog Ammo is a four year old, salt and pepper Miniature Schnauzer.
Ammo is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
He is recognized by the American Kennel Club as a Canine Good Citizen as well as a Trick Dog.
Before becoming a therapy dog, Ammo was a demonstration dog for his mom who is a dog trainer. His favorite activity outside of therapy work is to play fetch with his brother, Ike.
Therapy dog Bear is a four year old, female F1B Goldendoodle.
Bear is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit and the Vernon Police Department's Therapy Dog Team.
Bear is recognized through the American Kennel Club as a Canine Good Citizen, Urban Dog and Community Canine. She is currently training for her AKC Novice Trick Dog title.
Her favorite activities include getting as many pets as possible, going to Starbies for pup cups, Jeep rides, and taking pictures for Instagram.
Therapy Dog Happy Cosmo is a 4-year-old male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle Mix.
Cosmo is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
He and his handler Wendy were Certified as a Pet Therapy Team by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. They volunteer at Dignity Health Northridge Hospital, Northridge, CA, Dignity Health Center for Assault Treatment, Van Nuys, CA and at Los Angeles International Airport Pets Un-stressing Passengers Program.
Cosmo has earned the titles of Pet Therapy Dog, Alliance of Pet Therapy Dog), AKC Canine Good Citizen and AKC Therapy Dog Advanced.
Therapy Dog Gracie is a female Chocolate Labrador Retriever.
Gracie is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
She began her career in service as a Guide Dog for the Blind. Unfortunately Gracie had a career change due to a medical condition. She was then retrained to work as a Service Dog for anxiety alerts.
Gracie is currently finishing her training as a Therapy Dog.
Gracie has been awarded the AKC Canine Good Citizen Title.
Therapy Dog Grant is a five year old male Yellow Labrador Retriever.
Grant is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
Because of Grant's temperament and strong blood lines Grant is a Breeder Stud for Guide Dogs of America. His off-spring are part of the pool of puppies that go on to be Guide Dogs for the blind. Grant has worked as a Therapy dog for over 3 years.
Grant also works at Hollywood Burbank Airport in Burbank, CA as part of their Traveler Tails Burbank Airport Team. Grant also visits several local public libraries where children read to him.
He has his Canine Good Citizen title.
Therapy Dog Jack is a Male Welsh Terrier.
Jack is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
He was an accomplished Show Dog (Andover See Time Fly), retired with his “call name” of Jack and adopting a person of his own, Debra M.
Jack has earned many AKC titles: Achiever Dog, Canine Companion, Canine Good Citizen, Distinguished Therapy Dog, and Trick Dog. He is certified as a Pet Therapy Dog with Alliance of Therapy Dogs.
Jack is a member of Pets Un-stressing Passengers (PUP) Program at Los Angeles International Airport, does private Animal Assisted Psychotherapy, and many community events including being regularly featured at the California Science Center’s DOGS exhibit 2019-2020.
Therapy Dog Kira is a 7 year old female Black Labrador Retriever.
Kira is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
Kira started her service to the community as a Explosive Detection Dog. Due to circumstances beyond her control she has had a career change.
Kira has her AKC Canine Good Citizen title.
Therapy Dog Luca is a 5-year-old female Rottweiler.
Luca is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
She has been working as a certified therapy dog for over 4 years.
Luca has earned the following AKC titles; Canine Good Citizen Advanced, Canine Good Citizen Urban, Trick Dog Advanced, Companion Dog, Rally Advanced Scent work Excellent and Therapy Dog Advanced.
Luca volunteers regularly at Buddy Break with severely disabled children and with United Cerebral Palsy with adults with developmental disabilities.
Luca recently joined the Crisis Response Canines team. She will provide emotional support to individuals, families, communities, and first responders experiencing intense traumatic emotions in the aftermath of critical incidents
Therapy dog Macy Gray, is a 5 year old charcoal Labrador Retriever.
Macy Gray is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
Her titles include AKC Canine Good Citizen and Urban Canine Good Citizen.
She has been a certified therapy dog since was 2 years old and . has worked with many therapy dog organizations. She started her career with Love on 4 Paws where she spends her time visiting patients and staff in the hospitals, as well as working with children at mental health facilities. Macy Gray also belongs to Bark. With Bark, Macy Gray visits schools and libraries. Her main goal during her visits is to help children of all ages foster a love of reading. Currently rotates from the LAPD and multiple local school districts where she works in wellness centers and classrooms to promote a positive self worth, help students and staff deal with stress, process mental health concerns, and boost academic engagement. During her school visits, she spends time with students of all abilities from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Therapy Dog in Training Phaedra is a 8-year-old female Rottweiler.
Phaedra is assigned to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Lomita Station.
Phaedra is part of the many mental wellness programs offered through the Department that include professional staff and deputies who are trained in peer support to provide services to deputies and their families at no cost.
Phaedra has spent the last 7 years as a working dog Herding Sheep, Tracking, Scent Detection, Obedience, Rally and competing in the show ring.
Phaedra has earned the following titles; Canine Good Citizen Advanced (CGCA), Canine Good Citizen Urban (CGCU), Trick Dog Advanced (TKA), Companion Dog (CD), Rally Advanced (RI) Scent work Master (SWM), NACSW NW1, American Temperament Test (ATT) AKC Grand Champion
Therapy Dog Rudy is a 5-year old male purebred Standard Poodle.
Rudy is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
Rudy's black and white coloration is of a subtype known as a Parti-Poodle. The name ‘parti’ comes from the term “particularly colored.” Parti Poodles are known for their high level of intelligence, alertness, loyalty, and dense, hypoallergenic fur.
Rudy was first Certified as a Therapy Dog Team in March 2020. Rudy has also earned the title of AKC Canine Good Citizen.
Rudy is also a member of the DogTors Therapy Dog Program at Dignity Health Northridge Hospital Medical Center and the Steven Ohren Foundation Therapy Dog Program at LAJ Health.
Therapy Dog Scout of the Thin Blue Line is a 9 year old Female English Black Labrador Retriever. She was born on the 4th of July.
Scout is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
Scout has been a Therapy Dog for 8 and a half years and has worked as a Therapy dog for Investigators working Child Pornography cases at LAPD Juvenile Division, Internet Crimes against Children Unit (ICAC) and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Child Exploitation Investigative Group.
She has also worked Gateways Mental Health Hospital, Los Angeles, CA and has given presentations to the Girls Scout looking to earn a Merit Badge.
Scout has earned her AKC Good Citizen Title, AKC Urban Dog and the AKC Community Canine Titles.
Therapy Dog in Training Sonic is a one year old female Xoloitzcuintli also known as a Mexican Hairless.
Sonic is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department Therapy Dog Unit.
The 3,000-year-old Xoloitzcuintli (pronounced "show-low-eats-QUEENT-lee"), the ancient Aztec dog of the gods, is today a loving companion dog.
Sonic is a very confident dog that loves being out and about as a Therapy Dog. Sonic is truly a big dog in a small dog's body. She loves to retrieve and play tug of war.
Sonic is currently working on her AKC Good Citizen Title.
Therapy Dog Willowbrook is a year old female rust colored terrier mix.
Willowbrook joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and is assigned to the Compton Station. She was named after the station's street address.
Willow Brook is part of the many mental wellness programs offered through the Department that include professional staff and deputies who are trained in peer support to provide services to deputies and their families at no cost.
Willow Brook is recognized through the American Kennel Club as a Canine Good Citizen, AKC Urban Dog and the AKC Community Canine. She is currently training for her AKC Novice Trick Dog titles. Her favorite activities include visiting as many people as she possibly can, playing fetch, and horse back riding.
Therapy Dog in training, Charger is a two year old male Yellow Labrador Retriever.
Charger joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and is assigned to Men’s Central Jail.
Charger is part of the many mental wellness programs offered through the Department that include professional staff and deputies who are trained in peer support to provide services to deputies and their families at no cost.
Charger is recognized through the American Kennel Club as a Canine Good Citizen, AKC Urban Dog and the AKC Community Canine. He is currently training for his AKC Novice Trick Dog title. His favorite activities include making people happy, getting lots of belly scratches, looking after his family’s chickens, and playing fetch and tug of war with his terrier brother, Sam.
Therapy Dog in Training Ella is a 7-year-old female purebred Standard Poodle.
Ella is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
Poodles are known for their high level of intelligence, alertness, loyalty, and dense, hypoallergenic fur. They were originally bred in Europe as water retrieval sporting dogs and currently serve throughout the world in various roles as patrol dogs, chemical detection dogs, medical alert dogs, search and rescue dogs, disability service dogs, crisis intervention dogs, and therapy dogs.
She has earned AKC title of Canine Good Citizen and Canine Urban Dog.
Ella is also a member of the DogTors Therapy Dog Program at Dignity Health Northridge Hospital Medical Center and the Steven J. Ohren Foundation Therapy Dog Program at LAJ Health.
Therapy Dog Zephyr is a male 100 pound Long Haired German Shepherd Dog.
Zephyr is assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Therapy Dog Unit.
Zephyr started his career in service after being donated to the Guide Dogs of America as a puppy by a dog breeder in Michigan. Although he progressed well in the program, he developed a medical condition which resulted in his release (career change).
Zephyr loves people and is known as a social butterfly. Zephyr enjoys the opportunity to meet with members of the Department.
Zephyr has earned the AKC Canine Good Citizen title.
